Football Recap: Boyd County Comes Up Short

Boyd County extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-5. They came up short against the Crofton Warriors, falling 42-16. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-0.

When it comes to explaining why Boyd County lost, don't look at Charlie Adams. Despite the final result, he rushed for 82 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 58 yards and one TD while completing 80% of his passes. Barrett Koenig helped out on the ground, rushing for 94 yards.

As for Crofton, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 22 points or more this season.

PRESTON FOXHOVEN went supernova, throwing for 175 yards and three touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes, and also rushing for 35 yards and a pair of scores. Those 175 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyson Jackson, who rushed for 101 yards and one TD on only eight carries.

Boyd County and Crofton are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Spartans will head out to square off against Shelby-Rising City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Boyd County will need to watch out since the Huskies have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Crofton, they will take on Kimball at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
