Volleyball Recap: Genoa Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Genoa Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Liberty Christian Academy Eagles. Genoa Christian Academy was not able to make up for their loss to Liberty Christian Academy from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Genoa Christian Academy sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 20-25, 25-22, 14-25, 15-10.

Siena Swartz paced Genoa Christian Academy's offense, picking up 13 kills. Swartz got some help from Faith Griffey and her 24 assists. Swartz was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.

Among those leading the charge was Ryleigh Franklin, who had 17 digs and three assists. That's the most digs she has posted over her last seven games. Katie Grathouse also deserves some recognition as she had her first digs of the season.

Genoa Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Liberty Christian Academy, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-8.

Genoa Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Madison Christian on the 16th. Liberty Christian Academy has also already played their next matchup (against Granville Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
