Softball Recap: Brimfield Finds Playoff Glory Versus Riverdale

Brimfield had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They didn't even let the Riverdale Rams on the board on Friday, marking the Indians' second-straight 10-0 shutout. Considering the Indians have won 19 matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Layla Hersemann was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendyl Binder, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Brimfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverdale only posted a batting average of .150.

Brimfield is on a roll lately: they've won 22 of their last 23 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Riverdale, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 26-6.

As of now, neither Brimfield nor the Rams have any future games scheduled.
