Dynamic duo of Jackson Britt and Matthew Shelton lead Evergreen Christian to victory

Recap: Evergreen Christian Eagles vs. Riverdale Baptist Crusaders

The Riverdale Baptist Crusaders typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the Evergreen Christian Eagles proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with an 86-74 victory over the Crusaders. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Evergreen Christian.

Evergreen Christian was led to victory by Jackson Britt and Matthew Shelton. Britt scored 23 points, while Shelton scored 24 points along with three steals. Shelton has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rodney Ekwoanya, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.

Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nathaniel Wooden, who scored 18 points. Jacoby Briscoe was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.

Evergreen Christian has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Riverdale Baptist, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evergreen Christian will take on Virginia Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Virginia Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Evergreen Christian is ranked 27th). As for Riverdale Baptist, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grace Brethren Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
