Basketball Game Preview: Central Valley Hawks vs. Chavez Titans

Central Valley is on a three-game streak of home losses, Chavez a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Monday. The Central Valley Hawks will finish 2024 at home by hosting the Chavez Titans at 7:30 p.m. Central Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Central Valley turned things around against Calaveras on Monday. They came out on top against the Red Hawks by a score of 56-49.

Central Valley relied on the efforts of Emmanuel Carranza, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds, and Jace Mclennon, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 17 points. The dominant performance also gave Carranza a new career-high in assists (four). Jaylan Tagadaya was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, Chavez had just enough and edged Lathrop out 56-54 on Monday.

Chavez is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Central Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
