Baseball Game Preview: Banning Broncos vs. Tahquitz Titans

The Banning Broncos will head out on the road to face off against the Tahquitz Titans at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Banning will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Banning gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Yucca Valley with a sharp 19-3 win. The Broncos have beaten the Trojans the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Trojans has come to flipping the script.

Sebastian Osornio made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Osornio was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luther Mathis, who scored four runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Jacob Anzaldua, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Banning always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Tahquitz won against Canyon Springs last Tuesday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Tahquitz never let La Sierra get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The win was just business as usual for the Titans, who after four games remain undefeated this season.

Tahquitz pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Banning, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
