Softball Preview: Curlew Cougars vs. Wellpinit Redskins

Curlew is 4-0 against Wellpinit since March of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Curlew Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Wellpinit Redskins at 2:00 p.m. Curlew is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.

Curlew will head into Saturday's matchup hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 16) but on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Wilbur-Creston-Keller and snuck past 7-5.

Malia Sonsteng spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Theia Grady, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen two or more in the last five games she's played. Melissa Bineau was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
