Basketball Game Preview: Brush Beetdiggers vs. Resurrection Christian Cougars

The Brush Beetdiggers will face off against the Resurrection Christian Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Brush came up short against Highland and fell 60-49. The Beetdiggers have struggled against the Huskies recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite their defeat, Brush saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jocelynn Middlemist, who posted eight points and 12 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Middlemist is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brisa Aguirre-Garcia, who put up seven points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Resurrection Christian waltzed into their match on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They walked away with a 50-42 win over the Outlaws. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Outlaws are ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brush's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Resurrection Christian, their victory was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-1.

Things could have been worse for Brush, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-45 loss to Resurrection Christian in their previous matchup on February 4th. Can Brush avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
