Baseball Recap: Chaminade Comes Up Short

If Chaminade was feeling good fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Liberty last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Red Devils took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Valle Catholic Warriors on Monday.

Chaminade got a good showing from Freddie Grimmer, who struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk).

On the hitting side, Jackson Miller was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Anthony Wohlstadter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Chaminade's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Valle Catholic, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 10-0.

Coming up, Chaminade will take on Vianney at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Griffins will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Red Devils surely won't give up without a fight. As for Valle Catholic, they will square off against Kelly at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
