Baseball Recap: Churubusco Eagles vs. Angola Hornets
Churubusco extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-17 in the process. They came up short against the Angola Hornets, falling 8-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 11-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.
Churubusco saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Knott, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Angola, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-13. Eight seems to be a good number for they as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
On Angola's side, Brady Warren spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Angola let Landen Bussard and Myles Steury run wild. Bussard got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Steury got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Steury a new career-high. Korbin Roan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Churubusco is set to square off against their familiar foe Central Noble at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Angola will take on rival Prairie Heights at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
