Softball Recap: Susquehannock's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Susquehannock entered their tilt with Spring Grove on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Rockets. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rockets, too.

Ella Wetzel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sofia Deffendall was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Nora Salla was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.

Susquehannock's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Spring Grove, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Susquehannock will venture away from home to face off against Kennard-Dale at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 3.6, the Rams 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Spring Grove, they are taking a road trip to take on Gettysburg at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
