Recap: Lakeland Preparatory Lions vs. Douglass Red Devils
The Lakeland Preparatory Lions suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were beaten by Douglass 104-29. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lakeland Preparatory has scored all season.
Hayden Hughes was Lakeland Preparatory's leading scorer, having posted six points.
Leading Douglass to victory were Joshua Thompson and Taquez Butler. Thompson scored 20 points, while Butler scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thompson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Makel Boyd, who scored 11 points.
Lakeland Preparatory has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Douglass, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 20-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeland Preparatory will take on KIPP Collegiate at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (KIPP Collegiate is ranked 309th, while Lakeland Preparatory is ranked 312th). Douglass won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Memphis Business Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Memphis Business Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
