Softball Game Preview: Birmingham Patriots vs. Chatsworth Chancellors

The Birmingham Patriots will venture away from home to take on the Chatsworth Chancellors at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Birmingham will be strutting in after a win while Chatsworth will be coming in after a defeat.

Chatsworth will be up against a hot Birmingham squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Taft on Friday.

Not much got past Annabella Venegas, who gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks to keep Taft off the board.

At the plate, Bella Gonzalez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Melanie Mora, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Chatsworth lost 17-1 to El Camino Real on Friday. The Chancellors haven't had much luck with the Royals recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Birmingham's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Chatsworth, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.
