Softball Game Preview: Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS vs. Reading Blue Devils

Madeira hasn't had much luck against Reading recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The MUSTANGS/AMAZONS will venture away from home to challenge the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m.

Madeira came up short against Taylor on Wednesday, falling 13-1. The MUSTANGS/AMAZONS have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Reading got the win against Deer Park on Wednesday by a conclusive 18-4. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Kotah Brisbin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Brisbin was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Reading let Lillie Riedmiller and Brooke Androne run wild. Riedmiller got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Androne scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Sweeney, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Reading always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .718. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Deer Park only posted an OBP of .190.

Madeira now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Reading, their record is now 7-2.

Madeira suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Reading in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
