Baseball Recap: Vernon Takes a Loss

Vernon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the City View Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-11 last Tuesday.

Jaxon Urquizo was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. He also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season.

Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for City View, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.

Looking ahead, Vernon will be playing in front of their home fans against Holliday at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for City View, they will head out to challenge Bowie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
