Alonso and Venice squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Alonso had to settle for second. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians. The Ravens' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Julian Batista was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, Samuel Fernandez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Bryan Alonso, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Alonso's loss dropped their record down to 19-12. As for Venice, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-3 record this season.

While Alonso had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
