Baseball Game Preview: Pleasant Grove Spartans vs. Bibb County Choctaws

The Pleasant Grove Spartans will head out to take on the Bibb County Choctaws at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Pleasant Grove will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

On Monday, Pleasant Grove got the win against Wenonah by a conclusive 20-7.

The team relied heavily on Timothy Blue, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Pleasant Grove is undefeated when Blue posts two or more runs, but 4-14 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaury Webster, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Pleasant Grove hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Bibb County had just enough and edged out Tuscaloosa Academy 6-4 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Choctaws.

Bibb County's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, their record now sits at 11-14.
