Basketball Recap: Riverview Drops Season-High Score on Airport

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverview). They managed a 67-63 victory over the Airport Jets on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pirates also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Averi Westbay was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 21 rebounds. Those 21 boards gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maia Perez, who posted 11 points and five assists.

Riverview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

Riverview's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-5. As for Airport, they moved to 8-4 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

When Riverview and Airport next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Riverview will square off against St. Mary Catholic Central and their 11-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Airport will try to stop Flat Rock's five-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
