Basketball Recap: Tohatchi Cougars vs. Socorro Warriors
After a string of four wins, the Tohatchi Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to Socorro 78-73. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (58), Tohatchi still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Tohatchi lost, one person who can't be blamed is Josh Dawes. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 31 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dawes has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Adriano Begay, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Tohatchi smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Tohatchi's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Socorro, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tohatchi will take on the Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Socorro, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Bears at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Hatch Valley is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
