Ponderosa falls despite strong effort from Maddison Neale

Recap: Ponderosa Mustangs vs. Rock Canyon Jaguars

The Ponderosa Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 78-28 loss at the hands of Rock Canyon. Ponderosa was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-13.

When it comes to explaining why Ponderosa lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maddison Neale. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That was a full 39.3% of Ponderosa's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jenni Sorvillo, who scored ten points.

Ponderosa struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Rock Canyon pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.

It was another big night for Brooke Harding, who scored 17 points along with eight steals and seven assists for Rock Canyon. Harding hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Sienna Pillsbury was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Ponderosa has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Rock Canyon, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-5.

Ponderosa is on the road again on Friday and plays Mountain Vista at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th. Mountain Vista has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 227 points over their last three matchups. As for Rock Canyon, they will head out on the road to face off against Castle View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Rock Canyon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday.
