Westside won the last time they faced Brookland and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Bearcats.

Madalynn Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Westside's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mckyna Craig, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Westside now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Brookland, they moved to 10-3 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bearcats beat Westside by a score of 14-2 on Thursday.
