Softball Recap: Port Washington Wins Going Away Against Grafton

After losing to Grafton the last time they met, Port Washington decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Pirates put the hurt on the Black Hawks with a sharp 12-4 victory on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Pirates have posted against the Black Hawks since May 2, 2022.

Sierra Miller made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Port Washington let Hope Gilhooly and Shelby Cash run wild. Gilhooly went 4-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Cash went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most hits Gilhooly has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Libby Bates, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

Port Washington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Port Washington now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Grafton, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Looking ahead, Port Washington will face off against Fond du Lac at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Grafton, they will host Homestead at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
