Baseball Recap: Newark Comes Up Short

Newark came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 7-1 to the Dansville Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Reds of the 8-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Newark saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Devin Littlefield, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Newark now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Dansville, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Coming up, Newark will welcome Penn Yan Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Reds are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Dansville, they are taking a road trip to challenge Haverling at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
