Carbon Hill is a perfect 10-0 against Lynn since February of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bears at 4:30 p.m.
Carbon Hill made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Cordova, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 6-4 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered against the Blue Devils since April 20, 2024.
Carbon Hill saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cam Goolsby, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run. Brittany Parker was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lynn, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against Dora on Saturday as they made off with a 13-4 victory. Considering the Bears have won ten matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Bella Harper made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Alli Dutton was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alyssa McKinney, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Lynn hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive contests.
Lynn pushed their record up to 17-13-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Carbon Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-21.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Carbon Hill hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Lynn struggles in that department as they've averaged .350. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Carbon Hill came out on top in a nail-biter against Lynn in their previous meeting on Saturday, sneaking past 6-5. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
