Softball Recap: Pioneer Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Pioneer had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the East Union Lancers on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Jia Beebe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pioneer got a massive performance out of Caitlin Mayfield, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Mayfield has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Marisa Bryson, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Pioneer's win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for East Union, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-14.

Looking ahead, Pioneer will challenge Destiny Christian Academy on Saturday. The Lions will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight. East Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
