Basketball Recap: Sumner Skates Past Blake with Ease

Sumner won the last time they faced Blake and things went their way on Friday too. The Sumner Stingrays simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Blake Yellow Jackets 54-20. The Stingrays have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 34 points or more this season.

Sumner got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was MaLeah Wood out in front who posted 12 points. Those 12 points gave Wood a new career-high. Camryn Jeter was another key player, going 5 for 8 on her way to 11 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Sumner smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

Sumner's record now sits at 12-7. As for Blake, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Sumner wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-56 loss against Riverview Sarasota on the 21st. As for Blake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-30 defeat against Durant on the 21st.
