Baseball Game Preview: Leipsic Vikings vs. Edgerton Bulldogs

The Leipsic Vikings will square off against the Edgerton Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Leipsic has three straight wins, Edgerton has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Leipsic beats Edgerton with 12 runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Vikings blew past Jefferson 12-1 on Friday. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Vikings this season.

Mill Paniagua was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. He also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Myles Camareno, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Leipsic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Edgerton might've scored the first runs on Thursday, but it was Fairview who claimed the real prize. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Apaches by a score of 5-4.

Edgerton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Weaver, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Maddox Baker was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Leipsic pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Edgerton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Leipsic was able to grind out a solid victory over Edgerton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 10-5. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
