Baseball Recap: Steamboat Springs Takes a Loss

If Steamboat Springs was feeling good fresh off their 15-6 takedown of Battle Mountain last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sailors lost 21-6 to the Summit Tigers on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Sailors in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost nine in a row.

Fred Lohne was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tanner Cobb and Jude Fesperman stepped up to the plate in a big way. Cobb went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double, while Fesperman went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Fesperman's first of the season.

Steamboat Springs' record now sits at 11-10. As for Summit, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Summit beat Steamboat Springs by a score of 2-1 later that day.
