Football Recap: McCool Junction Mustangs vs. Mead Raiders
There's no place like home for McCool Junction, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on the Mead Raiders with a sharp 50-30 victory on Friday.
Carson Mcdonald was his usual excellent self, rushing for 149 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 98 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Marcus Chambers, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
He was just one part of a punishing run game: McCool Junction was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 379 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mead only rushed for 114.
Despite the loss, Mead still got an impressive performance from Mason Reed, who threw for 283 yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Reed a new career-high in rushing yards. A healthy portion of that aerial production (84 yards to be exact) went to Tony Engel.
McCool Junction now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Mead, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
