Volleyball Recap: Gridley's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

Gridley lost against East Nicolaus back in August of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Bulldogs took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

Iris Counihan paced Gridley's offense, picking up five kills. Counihan got some help from Isabel Santillan and her 12 assists. Finally, Kambelle Tolman kept Gridley's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gridley fell to 4-1. As for East Nicolaus, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Gridley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Orland on the 23rd. As for East Nicolaus, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Pierce on the 23rd.
