Baseball Recap: Aitkin Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

Aitkin barely beat Crosby-Ironton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Gobblers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Rangers a 7-0 shutout on Thursday. The Gobblers haven't had any issues with the Rangers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Drew Paulbeck made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Paulbeck was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Paulbeck is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nolan Dotzler, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Hunter Moreland was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Aitkin pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Crosby-Ironton, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
