Football Recap: Morenci Wildcats vs. St. Johns Redskins
Morenci was the 27-7 winner over St. Johns when they last played one another back in September of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Wildcats fell 21-12 to the Redskins on Friday. While the Wildcats had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Redskins 6-0.
Deegan Miller threw for 220 yards and one touchdown. Keaston Armstrong was his top target, picking up 74 receiving yards.
Brigden Heap went supernova For St. Johns., picking up 80 receiving yards and one score, while also punching in one TD on the ground.
This is the second loss in a row for Morenci and nudges their season record down to 5-4. As for St. Johns, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
