Softball Recap: Muenster Has No Trouble Against Celeste

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Muenster had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Celeste Blue Devils with a sharp 16-5 victory. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Skyler Reed made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Lilly Johnson was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Emma Walterscheid was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Muenster kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive contests.

Muenster's win bumped their record up to 21-7-1. As for Celeste, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-9.

Muenster will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Blue Devils: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
