Softball Recap: Doherty Memorial Comes Up Short

Doherty Memorial was the 15-3 winner over Auburn when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Highlanders fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The Highlanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Riley Cormier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Doherty Memorial saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella LLanos, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Doherty Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Auburn, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Coming up, Doherty Memorial will take on Leominster at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. As for Auburn, they will face off against Lunenburg at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
