Softball Recap: Dekalb Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

DeKalb's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the North Boone Vikings.

Jasmine Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, DeKalb let Cassidy Cavazos and Isabel Aranda run wild. Cavazos went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Aranda went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hazel Montavon, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

DeKalb always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

DeKalb is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Boone, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 22-5.

Coincidentally, DeKalb and North Boone will both be playing Kaneland the next time they take the field. The Vikings will host the Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Barbs will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
