Recap: Milford Central Wildcats vs. Cherry Valley-Springfield Patriots
The Milford Central Wildcats waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Cherry Valley-Springfield by a score of 62-51. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Milford Central also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Milford Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Christian Lawson led the charge by scoring 18 points along with five assists and four steals. Lawson is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Stevens, who scored 15 points along with six assists and six steals.
Milford Central is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Cherry Valley-Springfield, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Milford Central and Morris Central will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Cherry Valley-Springfield, they will be playing at home against Schenevus Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
