Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Pleasant Grove couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Sheldon Huskies by a score of 8-6 on Friday. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Madeline Lawson put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
