Softball Recap: Pleasant Grove's Winning Streak Snapped at Nine Games

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Pleasant Grove couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Sheldon Huskies by a score of 8-6 on Friday. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

Madeline Lawson put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Shealynn Stinson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Natalie Brozaitis, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Pleasant Grove's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Sheldon, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-9-1.

Pleasant Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sheldon, they will square off against Del Oro at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something the Huskies surely won't give up without a fight.
