After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Climax-Scotts, Mendon was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Colon Magi. With that victory, the Hornets brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Cam Bingaman made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Xavior Zinsmaster was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Carter Huston was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Mendon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Mendon's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Colon, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 3-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mendon will challenge White Pigeon at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Hornets are facing the Chiefs at the right time seeing as the Chiefs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Colon, they will take on Britton Deerfield at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
