Suggested Video

After four games on the road, Grayson is heading back home. They will welcome the Heritage Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Grayson gave up the first runs last Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Duluth with a sharp 18-9 win.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Heritage). They never let Salem onto the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Patriots who have now won three matchups in a row.

Not much got past Lauren Brown, who gave up just one hit and racked up eight Ks to keep Salem off the board. Brown has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Heritage let Taryn Miller and Lylian Forte loose on the outfield. Miller scored four runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4, while Forte scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Forte is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madisyn Boston, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Heritage was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .786. That's a new trend for them: their average batting average was 0% earlier this season, but in their last five games they've averaged 43.1%.

Grayson pushed their record up to 13-3 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Heritage, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.

Everything went Grayson's way against Heritage in their previous matchup back in August as Grayson made off with an 11-2 victory. Does Grayson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Heritage turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
