Basketball Recap: Northview Comes Up Short

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three matches, Northview finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They were outmatched by the Anthony Wayne Generals and fell 62-19. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Generals recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Anthony Wayne's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brooke Bender led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten steals. The dominant performance gave Bender a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Elise Bender, who went 7 for 11 on her way to 19 points in addition to seven boards and five steals.

Northview's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2. As for Anthony Wayne, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Northview will venture away from home to square off against Genoa Area at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Anthony Wayne, they will welcome SPIRE Academy at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Anthony Wayne's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
