Basketball Recap: Bear River Comes Up Short

After flying high against Wheatland last Wednesday, Bear River came back down to earth. The Bear River Bruins were dealt a 79-51 loss at the hands of the Colfax Falcons on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 785th, while the Falcons are ranked 386th).

When it comes to explaining why Bear River lost, don't look at Dylan Donley. Despite the final result, he posted 21 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ryder Eason, who had seven points.

Even though they lost, Bear River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Bear River now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Colfax, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bear River will challenge Marysville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bear River is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season. Colfax has already played their next match (against Mira Loma), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
