Basketball Game Preview: Whitinsville Christian Crusaders vs. Sutton Sammies

Whitinsville Christian and Sutton are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2018, but not for long. The Whitinsville Christian Crusaders will welcome the Sutton Sammies at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Sutton took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Whitinsville Christian, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row dating back to last season, Whitinsville Christian turned things around against Douglas on Tuesday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 76-35 win over the Tigers. The Crusaders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Whitinsville Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ethan Curry led the charge by putting up 19 points. Eamon Moloney was another key player, posting 15 points.

Meanwhile, Sutton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-52 heartbreaker at the hands of Bartlett.

Sutton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Whitinsville Christian, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

Whitinsville Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Sutton when the teams last played back in January of 2024, sneaking past 46-44. Will Whitinsville Christian repeat their success, or does Sutton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
