Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Academy Takes a Loss

St. Mary's Academy lost against Sunrise Christian Academy back in February of 2017 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The St. Mary's Academy Crusaders came up short against the Sunrise Christian Academy Buffaloes, falling 57-33. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Buffaloes are ranked 12th).

Sunrise Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Iyzrel Graham led the charge by putting up eight points along with seven assists and four steals. Graham is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Judah Cyrus, who posted eight points in addition to eight boards and three blocks.

St. Mary's Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Sunrise Christian Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

St. Mary's Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-56 win against Reno County HomeSchool on the 18th. As for Sunrise Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-14 victory against Flint Hills Christian on the 21st.
