Baseball Game Preview: River View Raiders vs. Grundy Golden Wave

The River View Raiders will face off against the Grundy Golden Wave at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

While Raiders fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Thursday's season opener. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over Twin Valley on Thursday.

David Baldwin made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Baldwin was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, Turner Addair was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Kaiden Newberry, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grundy). Everything went their way against Twin Valley on Monday as Grundy made off with a 12-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Wave.

River View came up short against Grundy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 9-6. Can River View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
