Baseball Recap: Point Loma Finds Playoff Glory Versus Santa Fe Christian

Point Loma extended their postseason success on Friday against Santa Fe Christian. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Eagles. The Pointers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Phoenix Brant was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Luis Lara looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

Brant wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ben Waterman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Point Loma hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive contests.

Point Loma's record now sits at 16-12-1. As for Santa Fe Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-15 record this season.
