Basketball Recap: Ontario Christian Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Mason Salazar and Cole Jones

Ontario Christian fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Aquinas on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Aquinas Falcons 62-58. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-45 last Wednesday.

Cole Jones and Mason Salazar certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Jones dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Salazar went 9 of 17 en route to 23 points and five boards. The game was Jones' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Cash Marshall was another key player, putting up five points along with four steals and three blocks.

Lj Hall was a one-man wrecking crew for Aquinas as he posted 24 points and six assists. The dominant performance gave Hall a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Juju Mareno, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Ontario Christian is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-12. As for Aquinas, their record now sits at 10-14.

Ontario Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 56-47 victory against Arrowhead Christian on the 24th. Aquinas has also already played their next contest, an 80-61 win against Woodcrest Christian on the 24th.
