Baseball Recap: West Field Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact West Field can now relate to. They fell just short of the Dixie Flyers by a score of 5-3 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Flyers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-5 on Thursday.

Caymen Kap was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Marshal Moon made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Garrett, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

West Field has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-13 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Dixie, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-9.

As of now, neither West Field nor the Flyers have any future games scheduled.
