Basketball Game Preview: Thurgood Marshall Cougars vs. Urbana Hillclimbers

The Thurgood Marshall Cougars will be taking part in a tournament against the Urbana Hillclimbers at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Thurgood Marshall has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Urbana will arrive with three straight wins.

Thurgood Marshall is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Wayne two weeks ago (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Thurgood Marshall was dealt a 56-18 loss at the hands of Wayne. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-7.

Meanwhile, Urbana didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Harvest Prep on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 50-45 victory.

Thurgood Marshall better keep an eye on Peyton Mounce. She was instrumental in Urbana's win, dropping a double-double with 32 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it 17 consecutive games in which Mounce has scored at least a third of Urbana's points. Olivia MacKendrick was another key player, putting up seven points.

Urbana was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harvest Prep only racked up two assists.

Thurgood Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Urbana, their win bumped their record up to 18-4.
