Baseball Game Preview: South Hills Huskies vs. La Salle Lancers

The South Hills Huskies will be taking part in a tournament against the La Salle Lancers on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

South Hills is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Monday. They never let Walnut onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory.

Elias Reyes tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and only a hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. What's more, he also gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Ayden Vieth was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, La Salle had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against Damien by a score of 3-0.

The team relied heavily on Chris Cardenas, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

South Hills took their win against La Salle in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 12-3. Will South Hills repeat their success, or does La Salle have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
