            After each having a week off, the Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos and the Lamar Consolidated Mustangs will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another  at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Given that  the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this  game.
Last Friday, Fort Bend Marshall was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap  as they fell  17-13 to Santa Fe. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Buffalos came into the  contest with a sizable advantage  in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Indians are ranked 359th).
Meanwhile, Lamar Consolidated fought the good fight in their overtime  matchup against Terry  last Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rangers by a score of  27-24. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 Fort Bend Marshall will need to focus on slowing down  Larry Clinton, one of several Lamar Consolidated players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 117 yards and one  touchdown, and also picked up 41 receiving yards and one  score.  Edgar Garcia was another key player, rushing for 67 yards.
 Fort Bend Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Lamar Consolidated, they now  have a losing record of 2-3.
 Everything came up roses for Fort Bend Marshall against Lamar Consolidated in their previous meeting  back in October of 2024, as the  squad secured  a  61-6 win. Will the Buffalos repeat their success,  or do  the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
